Face-to-Face with a Porn Star

Posted on September 12, 2008

It’s not every day that you get the opportunity to share the gospel with an "adult film" star. But that’s exactly what happened to me recently. It was an amazing encounter that I believe God used in a very powerful way. I wanted you to get a chance to hear the whole story and see last week’s service at Fellowship Church. So check out this video…

Ed, I’ve been watching/listening to your messages for the last 16 years. There have been many great ones in that stretch. This one however has just moved into first place for me. keep on keepin’ on.

    Ed,
That was amazing! I know Jesus would have shown the same heart for the “porn star” as you did. Those are the people He went after opportunities with too! Thank you for continuing to show us how to do “modern” church “Jesus” style.

Wow…what an amazing message. I attended FC Plano for 2 years before moving from Dallas. I still follow Ed’s podcasts and love the ministry Fellowship is doing to reach the world with the message of Christ. Keep up the great work! This has to be one of the top 3 messages I’ve heard Ed preach.

I first saw you on TV and your message was the ‘sexual revolution;’ it’s funny you’d refer to that in this sermon. I love being able to grow not only from sitting under the teaching of my pastor but from listening to other pastors as well. I live in Tennessee and being able to watch you in Texas is just so cool. When you mentioned not being able to truly worship until we look at it through new eyes that hit home with me. A few weeks ago Joyce Meyer was at my church and I had to sit up at the very top because there were SO many people there. A friend was sitting beside me and during worship I told him, “Look at all these people worshipping God. It’s so cool.” The sanctuary was packed and everyone was lifting their voices and hands to God. It made me so proud of my church and caused me to look at the service from someone else’s perspective. I think we need moments like that to wake us up spiritually and keep us from becoming ‘professional Christians.’

    Hi Ed,
It’s now a weekly tradition of mine to visit FC online and watch your weekly messages. The way you present yourself in front of your audiences amazes me. Have a wonderful weekend, and I am looking forward to this weekends’ message.

I was a member of Fellowship Grapevine for 15 years before moving to Melbourne Florida last year. I am so grateful to God and the technology he has made available that I can still listen to you everyweek on the internet. It is sure not the same as being there in person but works for now. I hope to get down to Fellowship Miami sometime when you are going to be there so I can hear you in person again.
Last week’s message with the porno star was fantastic. No one is truly lost to God. Keep up the wonderul messages.

This service was great to witness. Me and my family have missed a few services and to come back to this one was great to hear. We love to hear Ed speak. It just makes a difference in our lives, and helps us make it through to the next week. I pray that you always reach people as you have reached me and my family..

Thank you for this awesome testimony of the power of the Holy Spirit. May this porn star and her “boyfriend” turn to Jesus, grow in Him, and truly taste and see that the Lord is good.
My thanks to Brian (http://brianmbailey.blogspot.com/) for the link to your blog.
When my husband was a student at SWBTS in the early ’90s, we drove up to Las Colinas (sp?) and visited Fellowship. Again, thank you for your ministry to so many lives.

    Pastor Young,
I have followed your ministry for the last four years, and I can truly say you love people. I just moved to the Ft. Worth area to attend Seminary, and I am honored to be apart of Fellowship Church. Thank you for being a true example of how christians should view the world. Fellowship is a place where Christ is lifted high.

Thank you for listening to God and sharing what He lays on your heart. Through you, God has spoken to me greatly, and I pray for the courage to step out on the edge, and give Him everything. Thank you again.

    dear mr. ed young,
i have recently been watching your series on delicious and one time i heard you say to really uderstand what you are talking about you must bring someone farthest from god. i brought my mom and i am very glad you told me that because she is sorta far from god and i hope you will change her life as she starts to come to church every other weekend. i know also that you are probably thinking that its great and very good thing and blah blah blah. but i am only 13 and i know i dont know much, but i am glad that you can preach the truth to me and all the other people that are so far away from god. and i hope to meet you some day and i hope you have a great day. you are the best preacher i have ever heard!

    Pastor Ed,
Thank you for this message. Each week I look forward to hearing your message. I absolutely agree with another post, Fellowship is a church that no matter what trial or hardship your life has experienced, the grace and hope of Christ is alive and reaches your heart-and can change your life! Our oldest son is presently in jail and I cannot wait to share your messages with him each week when I visit. He is also watching you on TV while there. He is only 23, and because of a drug addiction, made a very poor choice. However, because of this choice his father and I were able to find out about his addiction. I truly believe that God is saving his life even though the last 4 months have been extremely difficult and painful. I have also grown in faith during this ordeal. I know I am where I am meant to be – Fellowship Church!

    Ed,
A great message! You are right, how often do Christians get to interact with Porn Stars? Not often for sure! You have touched her life, just spending time with her was something she did not expect. Love wins doesn’t it!

    Ed,
What a great message. I happended on your site because of a video from your church that had a link to “closer to the start”. Then I just nosed around your site, I am glad i did because I got to hear this message. I hope that Jesus will bring people into my life that are just as lost..so that I can love them the way he does and the way you presented his love through your message. Thanks for presenting His word in such a down to earth, straight forward way.
