The Urgency of Prayer
There are times when it is necessary to be reminded of the power and urgency of prayer in all of our lives. Today is one of those days. Yesterday, during the 10:00 a.m. service at our Grapevine campus, a 23 year old man named Jared collapsed and was taken to the hospital. I ask that you lift him up in prayer, as well as his family who were all together at the Easter service. Jared is hanging onto life by a thread, and the pain his ...
Painting always helps
Painting helps me in the creative process... especially during the "big" weeks. God gives me insights while I paint. It's sort of interesting that my subject matter yesterday was palm trees on Palm Sunday. I wish I could say that I planned it. But it didn't dawn on me until my friend pointed it out right before he took this picture!
My favorite post
Yes, this is the second time I've put this video up on the blog. But this is my favorite post so far. It's vintage footage of my daughter Landra catching an unofficial world record sized gar in the Trinity River. Had to put it up here again. Enjoy!
The Next Winner of the "Golden Crab"
Congratulations to Pastor Chris King - this month's winner of the coveted "Golden Crab" award. Display it with pride, Chris!
Meet Elva
This is my mother-in-law, Elva. I've known this sweet lady since I was 15 years old. She knows me just about as well as anyone does. 83 years old, and she hasn't had a bit of cosmetic surgery. Amazing! Most of us can only hope to look half as good if we make it to 83. By the time Lisa is this age, I'll probably be gone. She'll be onto her 2nd husband. And she'll look back and...
Words of Life
The tongue is a powerful thing. It has the ability to build up or tear down; it can heal or destroy; it can deliver words of life or words of destruction. This past weekend I talked about a guy who used his tongue to destroy. But in response to that slander, David wrote the following words. Read them. Pray about them. And consider how you use your tongue when you talk about others.Psalm 52Why do you boast of evil, you ...
C3 – Revisited
C3 - What a phenomenal conference! The past several days have seen one of, if not the greatest movement of God in the history of Fellowship Church. Men and women of faith from all over the world converged on our Grapevine campus for three days of preaching and teaching from some of the world's greatest communicators and leaders. And it all culminated Friday night with a moving altar call from Bishop T.D. Jakes. As he prayed that ...
C3 2009 – Day 1, Night 2
What an amazing day of worship and teaching! The House was packed once again. Thanks to Bil, Jentezen, Ben and Craig. It's going to take weeks to pick up everything you guys put down. And tonight was another great reminder of the power of God's hand in the House! What an inspiration to see so many gather together in the middle of the week to worship God and praise him with one voice. I can't wait to see what happens ...
C3 2009 – Night One
What an amazing opening night! My friend, Jentezen Franklin, who can shuck the corn like no one else, reminded us that we don't have to see eye to eye on everything. We never will. What we need to do is see each other through mercy. Thank you, Jentezen, for that message. And Christine Caine brought us a powerful reminder of God's passion for the lost - the same passion we need in today's Church. ...
C3 2009 is here!
Tonight, we kick off C3 2009! And over the next few days, I'm going to be updating my blog and Twitter with quotes, one-liners and maybe even a few pictures from back stage and everywhere else I go. I'll also be keeping up with what the blogging world is saying about the conference. Ty Bean from Cowboy Junction Church posted this yesterday. So if you have a blog, Twitter or Facebook page, let people know ...
